Aldridge defends Keane in Sky Sports spat with Liverpool boss Klopp

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ‘got the wrong end of the stick’ in his on-air joust with Roy Keane on Sky Sports.
Klopp took offence to Keane’s suggestion that his side had been ‘sloppy’ in their 3-1 win against Arsenal on Monday night, yet Aldridge suspects the Liverpool manager did not hear the praise that was also offered up by the former Manchester United captain.
“Roy Keane’s spat with Jurgen Klopp captured plenty of headlines and I can see both sides of what was an entertaining argument,” Aldridge wrote in his column for The Herald newspaper.
“Keane suggested Liverpool were sloppy during the 3-1 win against Arsenal on Monday night and there can be no denying that was the case when you see goal gifted to the Gunners at Anfield.
"Imagine if they'd lost…" 😂

“Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and finally Alisson were all guilty of failing to cut out the threat, with those kinds of mistakes cropping up with far too much regularity from Liverpool in recent months.
“Yet Roy was not saying the entire Liverpool performance was sloppy and that’s where Klopp slightly got the wrong end of the stick when he snapped back at him in his post-match interview.
“In fact, it was the opposite as Keane was lavishing praise over Liverpool all through his analysis on Sky Sports and Klopp only got a snippet of what he said and thought he was being critical of his players.
Keane is ‘box office’
“I’m sure Klopp will appreciate Keane’s compliments about his team if he looks back at his full comments and what I like about Roy in his role as a TV pundit is his views are delivered without any bias.”
Aldridge went on to suggest Keane was one of the best pundits on TV, as he insisted his forthright views are box office entertainment.
“He rips into his former club Manchester United with as much freedom as he would any other team and whenever he is on the Sky panel, it makes for great viewing,” he added.
“A lot of people don’t like Roy because he can be so blunt in his views at times, but he makes for great TV and is a great side-kick for Jamie Carragher.”
