Chelsea have ‘well and truly completed’ deal for Champions League star with exceptional goal record

Reports have claimed that Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea has been ‘well and truly completed’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
After a prolific 2021-22 campaign it was no surprise to see plenty of speculation surrounding the French forward. Several elite European clubs threw their hat in the ring, but it is believed that Chelsea have now completed the deal.
Nkunku scored 35 goals across all competitions last season for RB Leipzig. He has been just as prolific throughout this season with 17 goals to his name so far.
The French forward will miss the World Cup with France, despite being named in Didier Deschamps’ preliminary squad. The 25-year-old picked up an injury on the eve of the tournament that will rule him out of action.
Nkunku picked up an injury during training with the France squad that is set to keep him out of action for the foreseeable future.
Chelsea’s interest has been well documented in the French star and everything points towards a done deal.
Chelsea seal Christopher Nkunku deal
French outlet Le10 Sport have claimed that the transfer to Chelsea is ‘well and truly completed’ ahead of a switch next summer.
The French star’s agent, Pini Zahavi has ‘organised his exit for the summer of 2023’ when he will move to Stamford Bridge.
This deal will be especially significant for Chelsea and owner Todd Boehly as Nkunku is regarded as one of the most prolific players in Europe.
When the deal was completed Thomas Tuchel was the Chelsea manager and despite his sacking the deal is still expected to go ahead.
The report claims that the appointment of Graham Potter does ‘not change anything’ when it comes to Nkunku joining Chelsea.
He has played as a centre-forward for the majority of this season, although he can also operate as a number 10 or on the wing.
As well as being prolific in front of goal, he also offers a creative threat. Last season he registered 13 assists in the Bundesliga along with 20 goals.
Chelsea need more firepower
Potter’s side have been on a poor run of form leading up to the international break. They currently find themselves eighth in the table, having lost their last three matches.
The biggest problem Chelsea have faced has been consistently hitting the back of the net. They have only scored 17 league goals this season, which is the lowest of any side in the top half.
Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling are Chelsea’s top scorers as things stand with just three league goals each.
If Chelsea continue to average 1.2 goals per game, they will finish the season on a mere 46 goals which would be a huge underperformance.
Potter will be tasked with getting more out of his current squad, but a player like Nkunku could take them to the next level.
Given that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t quite got going this season, Chelsea will need to find a source of goals from somewhere if they are to make the top four.
