‘Hottest’ suitors Brentford make ‘concrete’ offer for Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush

Omar Marmoush playing for Stuttgart

Brentford have made the “hottest” offer for Wolfsburg attacker Omar Marmoush, according to a report in Germany.

Marmoush is a 13-time Egypt international who spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Stuttgart from Wolfsburg. His spell with Stuttgart resulted in three goals and five assists from 21 appearances.

Now, the 23-year-old is awaiting a decision on his future by his parent club. According to the German branch of Sky Sports, Wolfsburg want him to begin the season with their first-team squad.

However, the report acknowledges Marmoush’s desire to play. With only 12 Wolfsburg appearances to his name so far, he may consider his options.

Indeed, Sky state Marmoush will be taking offers into consideration this summer. At present, the “hottest” is coming from Brentford.

According to Sky, Thomas Frank’s side have made a “concrete offer” for the attacker, who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing (more often the left when that is the case).

Wolfsburg’s response is not yet clear. They only have Marmoush under contract for another 12 months and are yet to see him contribute to a goal in their colours.

It seems they are willing to give him a chance, although Brentford’s bid could give them something to think about.

Omar Marmoush another creative Brentford target

Were he to move to the Brentford Community Stadium, Marmoush would be able to compete with the likes of Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Sergi Canos.

Although his goal record is not outstanding, he is a player his loan takers have been fond of. Wolfsburg still see something in him too.

It would be an interesting move if he chose Brentford. They have had some success plucking talents from places other Premier League clubs may not think to look.

Whether Marmoush would be capable of stepping up to the standards required remains to be seen. But as someone who brushes shoulders with Mohamed Salah on international duty, he has some factors in his favour.

Brentford made Aaron Hickey their first summer signing on Saturday. Only time will tell if Marmoush could be one of the next through the entrance door.
