Young_blue You say Maresca has transformed players? I don’t think so. In fact just look at the money he has wasted on buying players to an over inflated squad, that is without a top keeper, centre back and striker. I think you need to look closely at the players Maresca has wasted valuable club finances on:
Dewsbury Hall,
Felix
Jorgensen
Guiu
Kellyman
Wiley
Penders
Anselmino
Tosin
Veiga
Neto
What a waste of money, and it proves he has no idea what he is doing. He is an inexperienced championship coach bringing to the club the type of players he is comfortable coaching. None of those players apart from Neto are good enough to be playing PL football at Chelsea. No wonder our standards are droppingNovember 12, 2024 at 12:55 pm #2350266November 12, 2024 at 1:44 pm #2350283I may be wrong here but I think the 2 players that Maresca wanted to buy was Dewsbury Hall & Jorgensen. Others were the owners decisions. I think they are part of the owners’s strategy to buy young players and to develop them at Chelsea or to eventually sell them to make profits. Anyway so far if we overlook these crazy purchases of young players by our owners spending mega money for them: the team IMO doesn’t look bad, at all. In term of performance, we are way better than last season or than the previous one. We’ve fought Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal toe to toe.

The problem is that you tend to see a negative in everything the current coach and owners have done. While they are not saints and I’m not their biggest fan, we should give credit where it’s due. They have brought in the perfect coach for this group of young players, and he seems to be getting the best out of them.
At this time last year, Nickolas Jackson had just 1 goal; now he has 6 goals and 3 assists. It took Caicedo 38 matches to register his first goal a year ago, and now he has 1 goal and 2 assists. I encourage you to look up his other stats for yourself.
Consider Fofana and how he is managing his injury record; that alone has won me over. He is a coach with a plan. Look at Madueke—he was on the periphery of the first team a year ago when Pochettino sidelined him, but now he is very much part of the plans. Cucurella has even been named the Player of the Match for Chelsea. Lavia, who couldn’t get a game under Pochettino, is now playing for Maresca. I also appreciate how he is carefully managing Reece James.
As for the players he has isolated, he has justified those decisions. Would you choose Sterling over Neto and Madueke? Not me! Would you prefer Chilwell over Cucurella? And as much as I admire Chalobah, he is not on the same level as Fofana and Colwill. Those who were sold or sidelined simply weren’t good enough. He is a fair coach who gives players a chance, but if you don’t fit his system, why would he waste time and resources on you?
Majority of the players you listed are young players for the future. KDH worked. with Maresca in Lecicester and you can’t blame him for wanting him in football there is that trust. for Felix, it was just that the circumstance forced us. Neto is proving to be a good value for money. also Viega at 8m could prove to be an absolute steal. You can verify the authenticity of everything I’ve said. However, if you judge the owners and the coach with a biased attitude, you will never see the point I’m trying to make.
November 12, 2024 at 11:05 pm #2350362Young _blue you will see soon that he is not the perfect coach for this group of players. They are young, and most have won nothing. Our coach is inexperienced in managing players, especially players with egos, and when we win nothing, and the players realise he has won nothing, they will lose faith in him and his coaching methods. We should have appointed pa coach with winning pedigree that the players could all look up to, but that all comes down to money again doesn’t it and penny pinching. Our owners would rather spend money on an inflated squad, hoping to flip players or profit. Which brings us back to the owners being responsible for this mess
November 13, 2024 at 3:31 pm #2350788Chris,
Currently, Maresca is doing an excellent job at Chelsea, and it took the owners two years to shape the team in their own image. I hate to admit it, but they are getting it right. We have the youngest squad in the league, and one of the lowest wage bills as well. Additionally, we have a young coach who will grow alongside this talented group of players. To be honest, I would love to be in this position—winning the occasional trophy and experiencing a difficult season afterward.
What does the future hold? Well, no one has a crystal ball to predict whether Maresca will make any mistakes or if he will grow to become a legendary manager at Chelsea. We are taking it one game at a time, and so far, Maresca has impressed me in his role as head coach of Chelsea Football Club. He has my utmost respect, and I’m pleased with the progress we are making under his leadership.
My hope is that we will continue to advance, and all signs indicate that we are on the right track. We are in a good position to reclaim our top-four standing, which would bring additional revenue and help us comply with the Profitability and Sustainability Rules. Currently, we are balancing our books by selling our academy players, and I believe that is the right decision. The club’s best interests must supersede all other considerations.
November 13, 2024 at 6:47 pm #2350829I still don’t like the owners and their strategy to buy a lot of young players and to sell our academy players but I do agree mostly with young_blue. When was last time Chelsea won the league? 2017 under Conte. So long ago. And I think as a team, we’d regressed since then. Of course we won the Champions League but we never were able to compete for the Premier League. Not even close.
It’s still early to judge for Maresca, but so far he brings fresh air and new ideas. The team is in a far better shape in my opinon. Of course we are still missing something but except against Man City, we were a match if not better than Liverpool or Arsenal or Man Utd. We’ve faced those teams already, in theory we would have easier fixtures from now until around Christmas and this is where we will see whether Maresca can bring a lot of victories or not.
November 14, 2024 at 3:59 am #2350850Young blue. They are not balancing the books. They are overspending by wasting money on p,Ayer’s that we don’t need
November 14, 2024 at 4:03 am #2350851Yes, We have a low wage bill, but do you think those players will stick around on low wages when we win nothing and other clubs come in offering them more money. Anyone half decent will leave for a serious club with intentions.
November 14, 2024 at 4:09 am #2350852Aindro, as I have already said, we got two points from City, Utd, Pool and Arsenal. That is not good! We continue to be indisciplined and continue to make stupid mistakes. A lot of effort is needed to score a goal. It is ridiculous to then hand th3 opposition an equaliser on a plate. It is not the way a competent winning manager players the game.
November 14, 2024 at 8:02 am #2350858The lone ranger speaks. Who gives a fook what anyone else including the majority of pundits say. Chris has his agenda and nothing else matters. Onya Chris. Our beloved 999 must be looking down from above thinking wtf. We can all argue with you until the cows come home so what is the point in it all. If we arn’t even allowed to look at any positive aspects of what we see without ridicule then what is the point. May as well save our valuable time and not bother.
November 14, 2024 at 8:47 am #235086367 I don’t get taken in by Pundits and the PR. It is fact that we have not balanced the books since the clowns have come in, so why say it. It is fact we have only taken 2 out of 12 against the top 4 teams, and taking on ambitious kids, paying them peanuts, with no set goals to win anything (Maresca said that not me), is not something to brag about and is highly unlikely to keep the players once we have developed them. The players will be churned out for profit, and the cycle will continue.
November 14, 2024 at 8:59 am #2350866If I remember, I got shouted down in the same way when I told everyone Potter was not good enough, with people telling me to shut up as he was here to stay. I wasn’t wrong hat time.
